As Rob Malda (somewhat) famously said, it just wouldn't be a homepage without the obligatory, self congratulatory, biographical borefest. Who am I to stand up and reject years of tradition?
I grew up in Lewiston, Maine and moved to Chicago, Illinois to study philosophy at the University of Chicago. I enjoy the rhythm of city life, urban culture, and the beautiful lakefront but I sometimes miss the Atlantic ocean, especially around Phippsburg, Maine in the summertime. I have travelled as far as the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Driving through a cloud forest, standing on the rim of an active volcano, and sleeping in the jungle with monkeys in the trees are things I will not forget. I have spent time in Mexico too. Unfortunately, although I speak certain dialects of computer fluently, mi espaƱol no es muy buena (at least I think that is right).
My son is not ten yet and lives in Maryland with his mom. He is very smart and very interested in Monster Trucks and Club Penguin. He also speaks excellent Spanish (and English) and likes to help his dad with taxicabs. My parents still live in Maine where I grew up and I have one brother who is an entrepreneur in Chicago and another who is a doctor in Florida.
Software has been a great profession for me. I am amazed at the power of technology to serve and connect people. Maybe that is corny to say, but it is true. Beyond that, at various times in my life I have studied computer music, played in bands, produced theater and directed multimedia all with some accomplishment, if not great commercial success. I am a big fan of local music in Chicago and can recommend the Hideout, Empty Bottle, Green Mill, Lyric Opera, and Millenium Park just to get started.
Thanks to everyone who has supported this website in all its different forms for more than a dozen years now. I am lucky to have met so many great people and done so much interesting work on the Internet. I still get a lot of the positive email about 1 Click Db Software and I appreciate all the good words. Currently all the downloads on this site are free. To show any further thanks, please consider donating to a local charity in the spirit of the open source community.
Am I old enough to still say w00t!?!
